Tee Shirts
For those who signed up for Deluxe Membership for 2019, your blue V-8 Registry t-shirts were all mailed 4 weeks ago. If you were expecting a t-shirt and it didn't arrive, give me a call or send an email. To date, no shirts have been returned due to an incorrect address; so we expect that they were all delivered.

2019 PASSWORD CHANGE
The password to access the V-8 Registry was changed in March 2019. For those who missed the notification in the March Newsletter, please be advised that we have a new password that is needed in order to access the "Members Only" section of the v8registry.com website. This password will be in effect until next March. If you need some help with this, please contact wither myself - lanning14@aol.com or Rick Andersen - rick@friendlychevrolet.us

CORSA CONVENTION - ST. CHARLES, IL
The CORSA Convention for 2019 is scheduled in St. Charles, IL from July 23-27. The event is hosted by the Chicagoland Corvair Enthusiasts Chapter. The convention begins on Tuesday, July 23 with a track event at the Autobahn Country Club in nearby Joilet, IL. This tract event is sponsored by the Northeast Corvair Council. Details and sign up can be found on their website. Here's a link to the NECC website: http://www.corvair.org/chapters/necc/
This Time Trial event is priced at $350 and we hope that a number of our members plan on participating.

The next event scheduled during the convention is the V-8 Registry Group Meeting on Thursday, July 25th from 8:00-9:00 PM. The meeting room is in the hotel, but the room has not been announced. The location will will printed in the official convention program. This is the Annual Meeting for the V-8 Registry and is your opportunity to meet the officers and other members of our group. We will conduct our business meeting at that time to update members on the activities of the group. Paul Beck, the Registry Treasurer will provide a report for the past year. Minutes of the 2018 meeting are posted on the website; so we will NOT read them during the meeting. Any additions or corrections can be addressed during the meeting. Here's a link to the minutes:  https://www.v8registry.com/2018-annual-meeting-minutes.html
At the conclusion of the meeting, we are planning a party for the membership. Plans are in the works. We will announce the party location at or before the meeting. Our plan is offer drinks (including beer), appetizers and dessert during the party. A drawing for door prizes will be held during the party. We look forward to meeting everyone personally during this event. If you plan to attend the convention and Registry Annual Meeting, we would like to get a head count for planning purposes. Either text the President at 502-649-3290 or send an email of your intentions.

Last year we held our party at John Black's home in nearby Moon Township and the responses were all very favorable about this event. Unfortunately, none of our members live close to St. Charles, IL; so a party could not be arranged at a member's home. That would have been our choice. Maybe next year in San Diego we can meet again at a member's home. If interested in hosting a party, contact us.

THE TED TREVOR AWARD CHANGES
On Friday, July 26th, the annual CORSA Autocross will be held on the hotel's property. Last year the V-8 Registry had six cars participate in the autocross and Cory Black won the Don Yenko Award for Fastest Time of Day. Hopefully a V-8 Registry can win this award again this year. In addition to this award, a new autocross award is offered this year for V-8 Conversion owners. The Ted Trevor Award, starting with the 2019 convention, will be upgraded to an annual CORSA award presented at the award banquet on Friday evening. Ted Trevor will now receive the same recognition as an honored racer and car builder along with others such as Don Yenko, John Fitch and Donna Mae Mims. His legacy has been elevated to the same level. From 1998 until 2018, The Ted Trevor Award was presented during the convention to the owner of a Corvair V-8 Conversion that was judged as the most original conversion present at the annual convention. A special engraved crystal glass was presented to the owner during the V-8 Registry Annual Meeting. For 2019, CORSA has added this new award for the Corvair Conversion posting the Fasting Time of Day in either Class SM-2 or SC-1. We believe that this award offers the correct level of tribute to the 'Father of the Crown Conversion'. It also seems fitting that the last recipient in 2018, Howard Trevor, be allowed to keep the Perpetual Trophy that was named for his father and not be required to pass it on to future winners.

If you plan to run in the autocross and believe that you have a shot at the award, you should sign up for the awards banquet. At the appointed time, the winner will be asked to come forward to receive their award. If you are not signed up for the banquet and win the award, you will be notified to show up for your reward. I'm sure that Ted will be smiling down from his eternal driver's seat on the winner.

PEOPLE'S CHOICE AWARD
Just as the Ted Trevor Award is changing, we are also making changes to how the People's Choice Award is judged and presented. In the past, a ballot box was displayed in the Hospitality Suite. Each Corvair Conversion received a numbered tag to post inside the windshield. Convention attendees were invited to drop a ballot into the box for the Corvair Conversion that they liked most. This year the ballot box will be on display during the Registry Annual Meeting. A list of conversions participating at the convention will be posted for all to see. Each attending member will be asked to vote for their favorite. The winner will be presented with a plaque at the end of the meeting by the president.

GROUP MERCHANDISE
During the convention we will offer discounted pricing on shirts, license plates, magnetic signs and window decals.

VINTAGE GRAND PRIX OF MID-OHIO
There is a vintage race event scheduled starting Thursday, June 20th through Sunday, June 23rd in Lexington, OH. The event is the Vintage Grand Prix Of Mid-Ohio sponsored by SVRA. To make this race weekend even better, Corvair is the featured marque. A number of our Corvair racers are signed up to race. A Corvair Corral will be available for the participants and other Corvair spectators to mingle. Let's show our team support by attending and cheering on our favorite car. Corvair race on Sunday. As I understand it, the Super 8 in Mansfield, OH is the host hotel for Corvairs. There's also a Hampton Inn. In nearby Belleville, OH there's a Quality Inn and Comfort Inn.In Ontario, OH there's a Country Inn & Suites. Hope to see some of you there. Here's a link to the website:  https://svra.com/events/2019-vintage-grand-prix-of-mid-ohio/

Let's get those V-8 Vairs out on the road. Last night I had mine out after supper. I pull up to a traffic light. The guy behind me in a pick-up jumps out and starts taking pictures along with a 'tumbs up' sign. Our cars are still heavily noticed.
Don't forget to call or send me an email if you plan to attend the convention. Also let me know if you plan to bring your conversion.
