Charles Troutman's V8 Coupe - Phoenix, Arizona
This is a '68 that I picked locally. The basics of the car were done by the previous owner. He hand crafted the motor and driveline base from scratch. I've got two small rust spots on the rear quarter panels to patch and then the paint. After that it's time to weld the mufflers on and go for a drive!
Seeing as how stock speedo's are nonexistent I decided to install a full set of Speedhut gauges. Installation and wiring of the panel finally complete. Awaiting for installation in to the car.

My first Corvair was a '61 Lakewood I purchased from my uncle in Pennsylvania in 1964 after returning from Spain. I drove it from Pennsylvania to California, in June with my wife and three kids. No air conditioning in those days. I did find an evaporative window mount cooler in Oklahoma. That saved us. After that we drove it for 150,000 miles with very few problems. My son was 10 weeks old at the time and made the trip lying on the engine hatch. Maybe that explains his attachment for Corvairs. I guess the rhythm of the engine ingrained into him. Check Charles Jr. for details and you will see.
