Dave Button, Mid Engine V8 Coupe - Groton, NY
Everyone asks how I took the photo while driving - The speedometer is from Speed Hut and it has a memory for highest speed recorded. At the VIR north course Corvair Olympics track day, when back in the pits I checked the speed and took a photo. The front stretch is 4th gear full throttle then hard on the brakes so no time to look at the speed.
I first built this in 1971, which was my last year of high school. My son and I rebuilt it in 2010 after sitting for 26 years in my garage - life got in the way! I autocrossed it back when first built trying for FTD at most races. I still have a few trophies. It was my only car for about 5 years. We autocross it now seeing who is fastest - that's fun now! It has an original 1970 LT1 350ci Z28 engine with aluminum heads, FAST fuel injection, billet posi 3.08 differential, quick steering, fuel cell, Afco radiator/fan, Wilwood brakes and pedals, 16" wheels and Speed Hut custom gages. It's a quick and fun street car that even today always turns heads at the car shows and cruise-ins.

So I only got one good run. My fuel filter plugged up due to the replacement fuel cell foam breaking down and it killed the RPMs, but it was fun.

September, 2015 Watkins Glen Autocross - in the rain!
Video of my fastest lap at the infield of the SCCA Watkins Glen Autocross. Very wet conditions as you will see, but very fun. 60 drivers with the 50 year old Corvair V8 and even older driver was 2nd fastest to a Mitsubishi Evo street mod car by 0.143, not too bad! I could not believe I did not hit any cones in 4 timed runs. Complete results list here: http://www.glen-scca.org/Solo/2015/Results20150912.asp
