Billy Cannon, '66 Crown Convertible - Goodwater, Alabama
'66 Monza 'vert Crown Conversion at it's 1st autocross in Helen Georgia. Wet and short track conditions, but a 4th place finish nevertheless.
It was quite cool in Alabama when this video was taken and the 1st test drive was not any higher than 65 mph. The remainder of the test was just stop and go around our small little town to see if the temp would rise during stop and go driving. Temp never got more than 180 and after 45 minutes of running around in 3 low speeds we pulled it back into shop and let it idle. It is equipped with 2 puller and 1 pusher high volume fans, a 4 pass Griffen radiator, and a Dedenbear 25 gpm electric water pump.
Just before we shut it down for the night, I walked around to the "rear grille" to check the temp. The fans are moving a lot of air and it felt like a bunch of hair dyers set on high speed. So it is moving the air out of the car! Again, remember we are talking 65 degree ambient temps, so results will certainly change (and did...see last paragraph) when the car is driven in the deep south's sweltering summers.
The rear radiator mount setup was done by the PO so we have kept it that way during this rebuild.
We are considering the 'vortex' issue at speed and have come to the unfortunate decision to go with a front mount radiator. Stay tuned!

January, 2015 Update
Mike Levine is putting together a Big Car Saginaw and adapter to merge with my 2.73 C5. We will then build and adapt rear suspension. Rear cooling remains, but will build shrouding for it this year.
