John Dayton, '65 V8 Coupe - Parkville, Maryland
After owning this 65 coupe for about 17 years without it being on the road, it was time for a change. We used a mild 400+ HP 355 against a 73 Eldorado TH425. The radiator is mounted mid ship in front of the engine, There is a clear Lexan cover over the engine compartment. We have added 72 louvers in the trunk lid to help with cooling. A chris-cross exhaust system exits in the back. The rest of the car will be complete when we finish sorting out a few bugs.
September, 2016 Update
This past week, I added a scoop to the opening for the radiator. So with the new 8 inch fan and the scoop, the cars runs all day long around 180 to 185 degrees. I think we have come very close to calling the warm temps good bye. To celebrate, I drove it to the first car show it has gone to..........turned a few heads .............seemed to get a lot of comments.....every comment was positive. I have never been asked to start a car up so people could hear it run........happened about 6 times in 4 hours.
