2022 PEACHTREE CITY, GA CONVENTION
V-8 REGISTRY ANNUAL MEETING MINUTES
The Annual Meeting of the V-8 Registry was held during the CORSA International
Convention in Peachtree City, Georgia. The meeting was conducted at Cory Black’s
home in Fayetteville, GA on Thursday, July 14, 2022. The event started at 6:00 PM with
food and drink provided by the Black family. At 7:25 PM, Chairman John Lanning called the
meeting to order. Thirteen members and three guests were in attendance. The meeting
was available to non-attending members in Zoom format and 10 members participated.
No CORSA Officers or Directors were present. The Chairman acknowledged that Russ
Brandenburg our Founder and first President had passed away on December 8, 2020. A
moment of silence was held in his honor. He will be missed.
Minutes from the 2019 meeting were posted on the Registry website and were approved
without additions or corrections. In the absence of Paul Beck, the Treasurer, copies of the
Financial Statement for the previous 12 months ending June 30, 2022 were passed
around. A total balance in the bank account of $3,929.66 was reported. Copies were made
available and the report was approved. A copy of the report has been posted for viewing
on the Registry website.
OLD BUSINESS
The Chairman made it known that V-8 Registry merchandise is available for sale after the
meeting. Shirts, jackets, license plates, magnetic signs and patches are in stock.
It was reported that the V-8 Registry Group Facebook page is picking up in popularity
with members. Members can now post comments and pictures. Previously all the
postings were done by the Moderator. The new format is showing favorable interest. At
the same time activity on the V-8 Registry Forum has declined. Members were
encouraged to use both since one is social and the other more technical.
It was reported that car ID Tags are still available at no charge to members with cars that
are at least 80% completed. To date, 154 ID Tags have been issued to members. ID Tags
are pop riveted to the underside of the deck lid.
The Chairman suggested that members start thinking about replacement officers for the
group. Without by-laws to guide the replacement of officers, volunteers are encouraged
to offer their services. The current officers have been in office since 2012. With no new
nominations, the current officers were voted in to serve another term by those present.
Potential officers will be contacted by the Chairman. The members were asked to do
some soul searching.
Due to time constraints and low attendance, the People’s Choice Award was postponed
until Friday during the autocross when more members would be present to vote.
NEW BUSINESS
Chairman Lanning suggested that annual dues return to the format used in 2019 where
two classes of membership are available. BASIC membership at $15 and DELUXE
membership at $30. The Deluxe membership will include a shirt, but not the Basic. The
previous TWO YEAR Membership will no longer be available. It has caused confusion
with members not knowing if they had paid.
The members discussed shirt colors and design. One idea included using a front Corvair
graphic on the front of the shirt to match the rear Corvair graphics already used on the
backside. This will be discussed with our vendor. There was no strong mandate to add the
year on the shirt front logo.
Members were encouraged to attend the autocross scheduled for Friday at the Atlanta
Motor Speedway. Voting for the People’s Choice Award will take place during that
event.
A new plaque design was commissioned for the Ted Trevor Award for 2022. Previously
the hosting club would offer a generic design and the V-8 Registry would pay for it. The
decision was made to create a new design that will be used in 2022 and for future
presentations.
With no further business to transact the meeting adjourned at 8:35 PM. Minutes of the
the meeting will be submitted to CORSA.
Respectfully Submitted,
John A. Lanning, President
