CORVAIR MUSEUM GRAND OPENING
CORVAIR MUSEUM GRAND OPENING
MAY 18-20, 2018
The Corvair Society of America (CORSA) opened its new museum at the Chevrolet Hall of Fame in Decatur, IL. The Grand Opening was held Saturday, May 19th with several hundred Corvair enthusiasts jammed into a nicely laid out display. Most of the credit for this event goes to Mike Hall, the current CORSA President. He almost singlehandedly assembled all the vehicles and related materials on display.
A number of V-8 Registry members also showed up with their cars for the Grand Opening. There were three Corvair conversions in the parking lot on display with the other Corvairs in attendance. Mark Allen and his wife Linda, who live in Decatur, brought out their 1965 Red Crown Monza V-6 coupe. Rich Deiter came in his 1966 Blue Crown Corsa V-8 coupe and Scott Earehart and his wife Bev trailered their 1966 White Crown '500' V-6 coupe.
Other V-8 Registry members in attendance were Bob Bauer with his wife Rose, Spence Duffey, John Lanning and Ted Malo with his wife Pat.
The atmosphere was quite festive in the parking lot where attendees displayed their cars and the weather cooperated. Everyone was in good spirits for this memorable event that didn't seem to last long enough. The Corvair display is a 'must see' for every Corvair enthusiast.
