Nathaniel Fearonce - Lilburn, Georgia
My name is Nate Feaerronce. I am the oldest active member at 91 years old. I purchased my 1961 Ramp side in 1964. It had been hit on the drivers’ side of the bed and pretty beat up from delivering shatter proof bell housings from the manufacturer Wedge Engineering, Carmen Pisano in Los Angeles where I lived. I drove it for about a year but I wanted to make a V8 transition. I went to Crown Engineering but the said they could not do a Ramp side. I started my own research. I found a friend in West Covina who had a Mechanics Shop, Jack Griffith who liked Corvairs. He had put a V8 in an early Corvair van. He clued me into checking wrecking yards. I started checking and after many measurements found that a C2 Convertible frame from doors back fit on the outside of the Ramp side frame. In 1965 I started collecting parts for the transformation. In 1967 frame was taken to Jack to properly weld frame at proper angle. So that motor mounts would be on the front end of the frame and suspension would be properly set on the rear to accommodate stock Corvette wheel separation with 15x10 wheels. I also created metal flares for such.1972 upgraded to C3 rear suspension. In 1995 I chromed rear suspension. 2005 Posi traction
