V-8 Registry Newsletter, Volume 14, Issue 2
V-8 Registry Members,
Membership 'Renewal Season' comes to an end and it's time for the website password to be changed. Please refer to the email that I sent on
Most members elected to choose the 2 year membership 'Special Rate'. This will simplify membership renewals for many of you next year and it will also require less time by the officers. We thank you for your choice. Active Memberships as of 3-15-2026 hovers at 162 members. Your officers look forward to serving you this year. We welcome your phone calls, emails and texts. If we can assist you with anything related to Corvair Conversions, contact us.
WEBSITE UPDATE
We announced in December that Rick Andersen has added a new feature to the V-8 Registry website. The new page can be found if you logon to the HOME page at www.v8registry.com View the headings at the top of the page and look for 'FOR SALE'. Click on it to view what's available. There is also a list of cars that are available from non-members. Call or send me a note to request a copy.
CORSA CONVENTION
It's March and the International CORSA Convention is only three months away. It's not too late to reserve a room or register for the convention. Remember, only CORSA members can participate in convention activities. That doesn't mean you can't view the cars or attend the V-8 Registry Annual Meeting, but conventions are more enjoyable when you participate and the fees are not overpriced. Go to www.corvair.org to sign up for CORSA membership. Dues are $60 annually and includes a great monthly magazine, the 'corsa communique'. Member Registration for the convention is $65 plus the cost of signing up for the events, tours and the banquet. See the attached forms below. The Wyndham Gettysburg Hotel & Conference center is located at 95 Presidential Circle, Gettysburg, PA 17325-8397. Call the hotel directly to make reservations. The number is 717-339-0020. DO NOT choose option 1 (Reservations), instead choose Option 3 and use the name CORSA National Convention for the discounted convention rate. King and Double Queen rooms are available for $159 per night, not including local taxes. Make your reservation early. The convention rate ends May 21st. The block of rooms usually fills up fast. Trailer parking is available.
The Annual Meeting of the V-8 Registry is scheduled for Wednesday, June 24 at 7:00 PM in the Eisenhower Room of the host Wyndham Hotel. God willing, I will chair the meeting and bring a number of door prizes for those attending. I look forward to seeing old friends and meeting some of our newer members.
NEW TREASURER
We are pleased to announce that David Baeckelandt, a member since 2016 has offered to take over the duties from Paul Beck, our long time Treasurer. Dave drives a beautiful 66 Monza Conversion that he purchased from Bob Brownell in 2018. Rick Andersen will start transferring some of Paul duties over to Dave as the year progresses. This will give Dave time to come on board by the end of the year. If you wish to contact him, his phone number in Glenview, IL is 312-543-7221. Here's a 'Big Thank You' to Dave for helping out.
FACEBOOK PAGE MOVES FORWARD
For those members who enjoy using Facebook, you should be aware that the V-8 Registry Facebook page is showing increased activity. The page shows postings from both members and non-members. We don't restrict activity to members only. Hopefully, this will encourage Corvair enthusiasts outside our group to gain an appreciation for V-8 Vairs and choose to buy one followed by membership in our group.

CORVAIR PERFOMANCE WORKSHOP
The workshop last month was hosted by Dernoshek Racing in Kannapolis, NC. In my absence, John Dayton filled in and reported that of the 35 attending the event 7 of our members participated. This was a weekend of comradery, parts swapping, a day of presentations along with food and refreshments. Hopefully this tradition will continue next year with a larger turn out. Thanks John for rounding up our members.
Until the next time, GO FAST, BUT STAY SAFE.
