V-8 Registry Newsletter, Volume 13, Issue 3
V-8 Registry Members,
This will be a short newsletter. My main interest involves finding a member with ePower Steering installed on their conversion and who plans to attend the CORSA Convention in San Luis Obispo on Wednesday, May 21st. Several members offered to display their cars during the Electric Power Steering Technical Session, but have backed out for various reasons. Ken Rosenbush the President and owner of ePowerSteering.com was hoping to have at least one Corvair on display during his presentation at the Wednesday, May 21st Technical Session on EPS.
If you are planning to have your Corvair at the convention and it's equipped with a ePowerSteering unit, give me a call or send a text.
CORSA CONVENTION IN SAN LUIS OBISPO
If you plan to attend the CORSA Convention in May, contact me and I will send you all the details for convention registration and available hotels. It's not too late to schedule.
NEW V-8 REGISTRY ENGINE EMBLEM
In my March newsletter I asked for your opinion regarding an 'official' V-8 Registry emblem suitable for installation on the front fender of your Corvair Conversion. The metal emblem with 3M adhesive would be similar to the logo on the front of your V-8 Registry t-shirts. Our logo was derived from a V-8 emblem introduced by Chrysler for the 64-66 Barracuda and other models. We adopted the logo for ourselves, but we altered the colors on the logo to suit our taste. On our emblem the colors will be reversed. Attached is a picture of the the emblem.
No one responded to the suggestion of offering this engine emblem through our On Line Store if our supplier can offer this metallic emblems at a reasonable price. If you think this is something members would purchase and attach to the front fenders, send me your comments and thoughts. If there is little or no interest, then we will drop the idea of offering this emblem for sale.
FACEBOOK PAGE(S)
Currently if you visit the V-8 Registry Facebook Page, you may have noticed that you can find two different V-8 Registry Facebook Pages depending on your search. If you choose https://www.facebook.com/v8registry, you see Mike Meyers white '69 white LS-1 coupe with orange racing stripes on the hood. at the top of the page. This is our 'official' Facebook HOME page. In previous newsletters I mistakenly directed members to another page.
If you choose https://www.facebook.com/groups/289407733051093, you see a '65 red Corsa coupe with mini-lite style wheels. This page is referred to as our "Group" page. Not sure when this Facebook page was started, but this one appears to be more popular than the other.
Ideally, it makes sense for all members to use the same Facebook page to view all postings at once. I encourage our members to use the officially designated Facebook page above, but everyone is welcome to make their own choice. Rick Andersen our Webmaster is investigating the possibility of combining the two Facebook sites. I also discussed this matter today with Adam Knoll our Facebook Moderator. Up until now, Adam has approved all postings before they become active. He indicated that posting approvals have been backed up for a number of days due to other commitments. So, if your posting was delayed, we're sorry, but that life. If you have some suggestions or opinions, I'm open to hearing from you.
Another option for communications between members is the V-8 Registry FORUM. This site is exclusively for members and offers similar opportunities for communication between members as Facebook. If you haven't used it lately, here's the address: https://v8registryforum.com/
If you forgot your username and personal password, you'll need to contact Rick Andersen unless you registered your own logon.
Until the next time, GO FAST, BUT STAY SAFE
