2024 Great Fanbelt Toss - Palm Springs, Ca.
We had a good luncheon meeting in Palm Springs this year. It was warm and dry out there, (I think the city quit watering the grass), but not quite as hot, (low to mid 90s), as last year.
We had 9 members, 5 guests and 1 spouse. The members were Charles Troutman JR (Charlie) and SR (Chip), Dan Chudy, Jaime Gonzales, Chuck Rust, John Balon, Dan Getchel, John Mar, and Mark Spies (and Jan Spies behind the camera). The guests were Darrin Graham, and his friend Tim, Tony Gonzalas', brother of Jaime, an unnamed friend of John Mar, and Matt Wetzel. Matt who is a Corvair guy thru and thru, has a very successful YouTube channel (Matts Off Road Recovery) and does offroad vehicle recoveries in southern Utah and all around the southwest. One of his recovery vehicles is a very capable 61 Lakewood wagon (the MORRVAIR) with 35" tires and a 5.3 Chevy V8 in the front. He builds his own vehicles or modifies them which is part of the draw. It's a very interesting channel to me. I'm a fan. He said he would be joining both Corsa and the 'V8 Registry', so you should be hearing from him.

Jaime Gonzalas and Charlie Troutman Jr. both put their cars, (the only 'Registry' cars there), on the dyno. I don't know what the final numbers were. One of the attached pictures shows Charlie sitting in the back (trunk) of his car because the dyno operator wasn't getting enough rear wheel traction. Jaime's car didn't have any traction problem.
